According to Reuters, SK Hynix said on Friday that it plans to invest 3.5 trillion won ($3.1 billion) to build a semiconductor plant in South Korea to cope with the growing demand for memory chips. SK hynix, the world‘s second-largest memory chip maker, said in a statement that the new plant will break ground at the end of 2018 and is scheduled to be completed in October 2020. In addition, SK Hynix said that the production mix of the new plant will be decided in the future, depending on the future market conditions.
